Firstly: Delays. Mainly in the release of my album. Recording is taking longer than expected, so don’t hold your breath.

Second: The video game that was in developement was cancelled. It has been replaced by a different project, more info to come soon.

Thirdly: I am keeping a list of games I need to finish here. I will tick them off when I’ve finished them.

EDIT – 28/09/10 – Delays are still occuring in the recording process. Don’t expect anything anytime soon. I added a couple of games that I bought to the list and crossed off a few that I completed.

Engine Decision

We have decided to use the source Engine for our upcoming game (Now a mod).

Unfortunately, this means that if you do not have a source game, you will be unable to play.

However, if you have a NVIDIA or ATI graphics card, you can get half-life 2 deathmatch for free!

Have fun with hl2:dm for a while, it will be quite a few months (i.e. years) untill we have finished this project

Engines

I’ve been searching for a few engines…

Unreal Developement Kit – The unreal engine, except entirely free! This is an awesome deal!

Unigine – …The best engine… Ever…………It costs quite a bit for an indie developer who hasn’t got any money though. I’ll try out the evaluation, to see if it will be worth it for a next project

If the requirements of these engines are too much for my fellow employee’s system, we can go with

Source engine – Most adaptable engine there is. Used in half life 2.

Reality Factory – kind of a last choice, as it is a hard engine to use, with “oldschool” graphics.

Anyway, keep your hopes up that we will get an engine that is the best for your system.

That didn’t take as long as I thought it did, but I will be updating with a lot more, more regularily, so be on the look out for that.

I keep on leaving this blog behind.

But anyway…

Ninja garden has been cancelled, in light of a better, unnamed project.

The first album of walrus soup will hopefully be released before the end of this month. It will be a 4 track EP, and only one more song is needed before it is complete.

Also, the artist qwertydrajb will release his music on our site soon as well, so look forward to that.

Ninja Garden

Here at sphericalcubes productions, we are creating a game. This game will be released for free under the creative commons licence and is called Ninja Garden. To keep the production reletively clouded in mistery, all we are going to tell you is that it is 8 bit.

Onto the subjec t of music, in a few months, the first Walrus Soup album will be released.

I am about to put some of my music up on the internet (and some of other people in Walrus soup as well).

I am starting a group of 5 people to make music, and release it for free on the internet. “Why free, you could get alot of money with music.” you say? well, I will use some arguments from the Hanster alliance who has a post about this here.

1.Music should be free Why? Because it is an art. But doesn’t that mean that the artist deserves to be paid for their art? No, art galleries are free to get into arn’t they? The radio is free (sort of), so you are paying to listen to something you could hear for free. That’s not very fair, is it.

2.We don’t need money from music. None of us have jobs, and soon we will have jobs, but we could get more money from something else, with all these illegal downloads going on.

3.We won’t get any illegal downloads costing us money. All artists have had their money stolen by people illegally downloading their album for free. But if the album is already free, and downloadable off the internet, then they won’t have to upload files and hope they don’t get arrested by the police.

Also, the flaming watermelons competition is going to start in 15 days! I have to think of a prize very quickly….
